'A'a i ka hula, waiho ka hilahila i ka hale! When one wants to dance the hula, bashfulness should be left at home!

The word "hula" describes a wide range of dances from the Hawai'ian Islands. Na Hula 'O Moku'aina endeavors to develop performers who have an appreciation for and proficiency in the kahiko or ancient hula, as well as 'auana or modern hula.

* Kaikamahine, Wahine and Gracious Ladies are performance and competition groups. Admittance by the Kumu required. A high-level of dedication is expected of the students in these classes demonstrated through mastery of hula basics and the Halau style; regular class attendance; basic knowledge of a repertoire of dances; some general knowledge of Hawaiian culture, history, language and costume-making; as well as the ability to participate in additional rehearsals and performances.
